Function description:

The handle aligns with the flow when open and with the flow when closed, thus aligning with the flow, making it easy to visually confirm the valve's state.

These qualities make them an excellent choice for shutoff applications, where they are often preferred over gate valves and globe valves. However, they lack good control capabilities in throttling applications.
